The UP Journalism Club (UPJC) is an academic organization based at the College of Mass Communication in the University of the Philippines Diliman. Now on its 57th year, UPJC takes pride on its members and alumni who continue to excel in different fields. UPJC’s lineup of activities aim to continue promoting media awareness among aspiring media practitioners and uphold the organization’s tradition of critical thought and action.

One of the oldest organizations in UP, the UP Journalism Club is even older than the College of Mass Communication. UP JC was founded in 1954 at the College of Arts and Sciences. Former Dean Armando Malay was its first adviser.

The early UPJC was very much in the force of student involvement which reached its peak in the 1960s known as the First Quarter Storm. UPJC not only came out with the Krisis,a Filipino newsletter, but also played an active part in the call for an autonomous Mass Communication Institute.

Noted alumni are Center for Media Freedom andResponsibility (CMFR) Deputy Director Luis Teodoro, Philippine Center for Investigative Journalism (PCIJ) Executive Director Malou Mangahas, former Philippine Journalism Review (PJR) editor-in-chief Chit Estella-Simbulan, TV5 News Director Ed Lingao, among others.
